God's Written Word

The Scriptures are not merely ancient texts; they are the inspired Word of God, given to us for instruction, encouragement, and hope. They reveal God's character, His plan of redemption, and His will for our lives.

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."
2 Timothy 3:16-17
"For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope."
Romans 15:4
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
Psalm 119:105

Why We Study the Scriptures

To Know God

The Scriptures reveal who God is — His character, His works, and His love. Through them, we come to know Him personally.

"Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." — John 17:3

To Grow in Faith

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. The Scriptures build and strengthen our faith.

"Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ." — Romans 10:17

For Guidance

God's Word provides wisdom for every decision and lights our path in a dark world.

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." — Psalm 119:105

To Be Equipped

Scripture equips us for every good work, preparing us to serve God and others effectively.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." — 2 Timothy 3:16-17

For Correction

It reproves and corrects us, helping us to stay on the narrow path that leads to life.

"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." — Hebrews 4:12

To Have Hope

The promises of God in Scripture give us enduring hope, especially in times of trial.

"For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope." — Romans 15:4
